Meet Ashley!

Good afternoon, my lovely RAD Readers! Today, I have something extra cool to tell you!

Last Chance Baby, by Ashley Gallegos,
hits shelves February 14, 2017!

To celebrate, and to help you get to know the author behind this fun romantic novel, we asked Ashley to tell you a little bit about herself.

Read on to find out what makes our newest author tick, and hear a little about the ever so popular NaNoWriMo!

(Kristina) Hi Ashley! First of all, welcome to the RAD Writing team! We’re so happy to have you onboard with us. To start out, what would you most like readers to know about you and your novels?

(Ashley) I started writing as a hobby. I was always that writer that pondered, "Well, what if this happened in the story? What if the hero chose this path instead? What if?" I wanted to explore those options on my own and started to write my own stories just to find out what would happen. I was shocked when I discovered that people were interested in coming along with me for the journey.

(K) That’s awesome! We’re excited to be on this journey with you, too. How long have you been writing?

(A) I have always written here and there for myself but never imagined that I would share it with the world. I started to open up my work to friends and family in 2015 and was surprised to see that it was warmly received. Everything took off from the there and it has been such an amazing blessing to be on this adventure with my incredible readers!

(K) Did you always know that writing was something you wanted to pursue?

(A) Secretly, I have always wanted to be a writer but never wanted to say it out loud for fear of failure. Now I know that anyone can do truly do anything that they want to do - even me!

(K) I love that story, and I’ve found it common with a lot of writers. We really want to try to remove that stigma about failure when it comes to writing, by talking to authors like you and finding out what makes them tick. How did you come up with the idea for Last Chance Baby?

(A) I feel awkward taking credit for the idea of Last Chance Baby because it came to me in such a fluid fashion that I don't even know where it came from. I just sat in front of the computer and tried to keep up as the story kept pouring out of me. It was quite a spiritual experience to write Last Chance Baby and it was one of my favorite books to write.

(K) How long did it take you to write your first draft? Was it difficult for you?

(A) I wrote the first draft in less than a month. I was writing almost all day and night. The story simply poured out of me and it was impossible to tear myself away from the computer. I just couldn't stop the story from coming to fruition.

(K) What’s your favorite thing about Last Chance Baby?

(A) My favorite part about Last Chance Baby is probably watching Hailey balance the responsibility she feels to herself, her friends, her family, and the baby. We all feel torn in a million directions in our lives and finding that balance on the way to happiness is something we can all relate to.

(K) I certainly connected with Hailey in that way as well. Life gets so crazy, especially this time of year. It’s even NaNoWriMo this month – are you participating? What are you working on?

(A) I think I participate in NaNoWriMo every month - whether I realize it or not! NaNoWriMo tends to sneak up on me every year and I forget about it until half way through November only to realize I've already been writing! Right now I am finishing up a thriller about a girl who discovers the family she has known her whole life is not who they appeared to be. She must find out their secrets before it is too late and she meets their same fate.

(K) I can’t wait to read it! Do you have any advice for people who want to start writing, or have written a book but don’t know what to do now that it’s done?

(A) My best advice would be to just start writing if you want to write. Your first book doesn't have to be a masterpiece but you can't call it a book until it is on paper. If you are ready to be published, I cannot recommend RAD Writing enough. Whether you plan to go the self-publishing route and just need an editor or you want to work with a publisher, RAD Writing has been an amazing experience for me and one that I recommend for everyone!

We seriously cannot wait for Ashley’s book to hit our shelves! Drop us a comment and say hi to Ashley, and let us know what you think of the new cover!
