Submitting a manuscript can be hard. They're something that we’ve spent a mass of time on, something that we’ve nurtured into what we believe is a beautiful story, and now we’re sending it to someone else to see if they think so too.
How nerve-wracking is that?!
Let me be the first to tell you that I know what you’re going through. I’ve sent manuscripts to publishers. Good manuscripts, in my opinion. And they’ve come back to me with nothing. Not even a note to say what anyone thought about them, or a confirmation that they even read to the end.
But I made RAD Writing to be different from those publishers, to be a voice in a world of silence. Most publishers don’t want to take the time to send you a realistic response to your manuscript, a list of things that you could work on or improve in the hopes of your getting it published. RAD isn’t like that. We will never be like that. This is my vow, and I trust you’ll hold me to it.
With RAD Writing, there are many things that you’ll no longer have to think about, to worry over.
When you submit here, I promise you you’ll be treated like a person, not a name on the title page of a manuscript.
In fact, here are a few of my vows to each of you:
You won’t have to wonder whether or not you’ll ever hear back from us.
In fact, I’ll email you myself within forty-eight hours of receiving your manuscript, and I’ll give you an approximation of when one of our editors will start reading it. If you have any questions, you’re more than welcome to email me back. I welcome a dialogue between RAD Writing and the authors who wish to be published here.
You won’t have to wonder when we’re reading your manuscript.
One of our editors will personally send you an email when they start reading. If we have any questions about your manuscript, we’ll email you. We’ll let you know when we’re done, and when it will be discussed with the rest of the RAD editors. And if you get nervous along the way, we’ll do everything we can to ease those nerves.
You won’t have to wonder if there’s a person on the other side.
Most of the time, you’ll end up talking to either me or Tammy. We’re the primary editors here at RAD Writing, and that makes us the primary email responders, too. We’re people. We’re writers, actually, and we’ve both struggled with publishers as well. That’s why we’re with RAD now, in a place where we can make way for new authors.
We’re here for you.
We want to see you succeed.
Even if all you want is some advice on where to go next, we’re here for you.
So send us an email. Better yet, send us your manuscript. Even if we aren’t set to publish it, I’ll do some research and find one or two other places where I’ll suggest sending it. And I’ll give you some pointers on how to make it look far more appealing to any publisher. Even us.
And yes, you’re welcome to send something in more than once, if you’ve edited it in between.
Write on, my friends.
I look forward to reading your masterpieces.
